What is the Best Car Battery to Buy?

Know that it is unwise to use just any battery, so refer to the manufacturer’s manuals before deciding. You may or may not even be sure that changing your battery will solve your charging problem.

Battery For Cars

Let’s look at some of the parameters to consider when replacing a battery.

The Size

The Polarity

The capacity

The maximum current

The battery Technology

The Size

If the battery is not replaced in its original form, it may not be the right width, length and height for you. If these dimensions are not respected, you will not be able to fit it in its intended location under the hood.

The Polarity

In case your battery is not replaced identically, you must be very careful to avoid the wrong polarity. To do this, while your old battery is not yet removed from the cabin. Repair the Positive terminal in the direction of the car with a graph or a mental plan. For example: (+Battery) front right or rear left or vice versa.

The capacity

The capacity is expressed in Ah on the battery label. It represents the electrical storage capacity of a battery in 1 hour, for example a 70Ah battery delivers 70amp during 1 hour. At the stop, if a car containing this battery where its normal leakage current is equal to 0.050 Amp. It will take on average 1400 h or 58 days to discharge the battery from 0. Hence the importance of not replacing the battery has a lower capacity. Otherwise it will discharge too quickly after a certain time of inactivity.

The maximum current

The maximum current or Cold Cranking Amps (CCA). You will see this written on most batteries. The higher this value is, the easier it will be to cold start the car. It is best to replace the battery with a value that is higher or equal to the old one.

The battery Technology

Wet cell battery

Lead acid vented batteries are popular, and obsolete in some areas, but if you know how to maintain it will last a long time, up to 7 years. They cost less. Intended for low to mid-range vehicles. On this battery you will have to check the electrolyte level regularly.

The batteries close

The Gel battery: The lead-acid gel battery is maintenance free, but it costs more and lasts less time.

EFB Battery: (Enhanced Flooded Battery) This battery is of superior performance, its charge cycle is twice as long as conventional lead acid batteries. They are installed on simple automatic systems with start-stop control.

VRLA Battery: (valve-Regulated Lead-Acid) The battery was designed to replace the addition of water on open lead-acid batteries. It is a system added to the battery type. It is not an openable battery nor is it a maintenance free battery. There are many types of VRLA and some do not contain the Pb-Ca alloy. As its definition indicates, it contains a discharge valve on top of the battery that automatically maintains the recombination of too strong gas inside the battery.

AGM Battery: (absorbed glass mat) At the forefront of automotive technology, this is a very long life battery with up to 10 years warranty. Without doubt the best of all, it has a great resistance to deep discharge. The composition of this battery as its name indicates contains its electrolyte in a glass material which gives it the advantage of being placed in any position. It is installed on sophisticated vehicles. This battery is associated with the high-end class of the automobile. But the complete discharge of this battery requires a special charger.

Other Battery

Lithium battery: with an easy discharge capacity they are more used in the application of transformation of sunlight into electricity.

Nickel Battery: nickel battery is intended to power portable gadgets because of its low capacity.

When you have to make the choice of a battery without your service manual, this information will be greatly beneficial to you.

Which Best battery for my car?

Don’t let too much information cloud your mind, your right battery works hand in hand with your alternator. If you have a battery with a higher amperage than your charging alternator, it will never charge the battery enough. The reverse is also disadvantageous.

Investigate differently too! When I’m in a bind, I look at what the sellers are offering me. Then I evaluate the result with the information I already have and I choose.

Make it easy for yourself, here is a path that will help you identify it like a pro!

  1. Go to piecesauto24:
  2. Click on “select vehicle”.
  3. Choose the make
  4. The model and the year
  5. The engine
  6. In the chosen spare parts catalog:
  7. Electrical System
  8. Battery then Alternator (If you want to compare amperage info.)

Many manufacturers offer you the battery or alternator at Piecesauto24 for your car. I wish you already success💪
